Dr. Simoni on the Basics of Rhytidectomy (Face Lift)

The outward appearance of aging facial skin may convey a tiredness that runs counter to the actual vitality experienced by an individual. For this reason, many individuals seek facelifts to help them recapture that external youthful vigor.

A rhytidectomy, more commonly known as a face lift, is a surgical procedure that improves the appearance of problem areas such as loose neck skin, drooping jowls, or sagging facial skin. In general terms, the surgery involves removing excess fat, tightening the facial muscles, and pulling the facial skin upwards.

The procedure is most often performed on people over age 40, when normal aging, exposure to sunlight, stress, and negative lifestyle habits such as smoking begin to affect the appearance of the face. Face lifts are most successful when the skin still retains elasticity and the facial bone structure is well-defined.

Traditional face lifts require three to five hours, and most are performed under Major anesthesia.  Recent plastic surgery advances create natural looking results with a shorter recovery period.  Dr Simoni invented a one-hour procedure that does not require major anesthesia. This facelift is has been known as the Simoni Lift, or “the facelift of the future.” Dr Simoni conduct a preoperative analysis for each patient prior to surgery to evaluate various factors and plan the minior full facelift procedures.

At the time of the procedure, Dr Simoni administer a local anesthesia, and remove excess fat and skin from the face and neck area through incisions that reposition and support skin, fat, and muscles. Patients will need a recovery period of reduced activity for up to a week following the procedure. There should be minimal discomfort, and numbness should disappear within a month. Visible bumps and redness will fade over time. The revolutionary Simoni Face Lift has all the advantage of traditional face lift except that it is done without the need for any major anesthesia.  Simoni Lift lasts for years.

Side effects of Facelifts, which may include swelling, bruising, tenderness, stiffness, and numbness, are generally temporary and relatively minor, usually subsiding in two to three weeks. Pain is minimal and easily controlled with medication. More serious side effects, such as facial nerve damage, infection, or excessive scarring, are quite unusual.

Dr. Payman Simoni, solo practitioner at Simoni Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, designed the Simoni Lift, a one-hour, minimally invasive procedure that improves the appearance of the face without need for general anesthesia.

Secrets of the Face Lift of the Future: The Simoni Lift(TM) to be Revealed at 2010 Facial Cosmetic Surgery Symposium

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., May 28 /CHICAGOPRESSRELEASE.COM/ — Renowned surgeons and aesthetic practitioners from around the world will be gathering to share and discuss the latest techniques and technologies in cosmetic surgery and dermatology at The 6th Annual Facial Cosmetic Surgery International Multi-Specialty Symposium in Las Vegas, July 14-18. For the first time, Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon Payman Simoni, MD, FACS, will be revealing the highly specialized techniques he has perfected with his highly publicized Simoni Lift™.
The Simoni Lift™ is a minimally invasive yet fully comprehensive face lift surgery that is performed in 60 to 90 minutes with no general anesthesia. The patient is wide awake during the procedure which allows them to sit up in an inclined position. This allows Dr. Simoni to observe the ways gravity naturally affect patients faces during surgery, providing for a more natural result that doesn’t look pulled. Additional benefits of eliminating general anesthesia from the facelift procedure include, shorter recovery time, less bruising and swelling, and reduced health risks that are sometimes associated with the use of anesthesia.
Local anesthesia is used to numb the sides of the patient’s face. Using very small incisions around the patient’s ears, Dr. Simoni is able to access the facial region to tighten the laxity in the neck, jowls and mid-face region. Scars are completely concealed in a natural line behind the ear. “This is not a lunchtime facelift or even a mini-lift,” said Dr. Simoni. “I am able to achieve results that are just as good, if not better than a traditional facelift using these methods.”
Following completion of his training, Dr. Simoni sought an experience that most plastic surgeons dream of but never achieve. He traveled throughout the country to study directly with leading surgeons in the field of facial plastic surgery to benefit from their techniques and experiences in order to perfect his own.

Minimally Invasive Procedures Dominate in Dr. Payman Simoni’s 2010 Forecast for Aesthetic Medicine and Cosmetic Surgery

Beverly Hills, CA - With no light at the end of the tunnel yet visible for our troubled economy the year 2010 will most likely feature a very clear shift toward noninvasive procedures according to famed Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon Payman Simoni, MD. Noninvasive procedures are lower cost, and the recovery time is much less compared to traditional surgical procedures like face lifts, tummy tucks and breast augmentation. “People will be concerned about taking too much time off of work in an economy that isn't synonymous with job security,” said Simoni.

The competitive job market will encourage some individuals to seek help from cosmetic enhancement to look more youthful and refreshed; therein lays the popularity of injectables like Botox. The cosmetic injections can smooth lines and wrinkles in a 30-minute treatment for just a few hundred dollars. “I received some media attention in 2009 for my Recession Face Lift and it’s possible that rejuvenating procedures such as this will show a surge with people who seek job security in looking younger,” said Simoni.

Many companies recently have invested in laser assisted liposuction, procedures that promise less invasive approach to traditional liposuction. “I believe that not even new laser assisted liposuction procedures will be able to bring liposuction back to the number one plastic surgery procedure spot that it once enjoyed,” said Simoni.

Simoni goes on to say that cosmetic procedures like laser hair removal that have less to do with beauty and more with comfort will show a dramatic downturn. Many will turn to razors and waxes to save money for other necessities. Other DIY cosmetic procedure may attract consumers.

Many business savvy companies will notice the demand of consumers who wish to look younger at cheaper cost and will come up with catchy “face lift in a bottle” ideas. Using cosmetic creams to look more refreshed is not a new idea, but false promises of face lift results from a simple cream may become more common in the year to come. “By the time people realize the old saying ‘If it is too good to be true, it usually is’ many of these companies will have made their fortune!” Simoni concluded.

First Ever Black Friday Sales Event for Plastic Surgery to be Held by Payman Simoni, MD

Beverly Hills – The biggest shopping day of the year is here again, and while major retailers across the nation look to battle it out with pricing wars, one renowned Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon has decided to join the festivities. Payman Simoni, M.D., recognized for the innovative Simoni face lift procedure, is hosting the first ever plastic surgery Black Friday Event. As the U.S. economy slowly recovers, this event will help to make once pre-recession affordable plastic surgery treatments more affordable again for at least this one day of the year.

“People want to look their best during the holidays,” said Dr. Simoni. “With all the money people will be spending on gifts, parties, and travelling it becomes a bit harder to spend time and money on themselves. With our Black Friday Sale we will be making it easier for our patients look fabulous during this holiday season,” he concluded.

Deals being offered include 20 to 50% off on most injectables, cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery procedures. Patients can save on Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Latisse, Obagi products, The Simoni Lift, rhinoplasty, liposuction, laser resurfacing, E Matrix RF treatments, VASER, Velashape among others. All procedures will need to be booked on Friday, November 27, 2009 with a 30% down payment required at the time of booking.

Less than a month ago, Dr Simoni hosted the first ever Dysport Party in the country. Injectables like Dysport, Botox, Juvederm, or Restylane are well known for being the most affordable alternatives to their longer lasting surgical counterparts. The current economic down-turn has rendered these once affordable treatments difficult for most people to afford. The release of Dysport as the first true competition to Botox has pushed the industry to provide rebates to sway consumers toward their products.

Vaser Me Softly

Wide Aware Liposuction Makes a Perfect Ultra SOUND
Entertainment Tonight recently aired an unbelievable segment depicting wide awake liposuction. In the segment, Dr. Payman Simoni, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, performed liposuction while the patient was talking on the phone. He was using a new ultrasonic technology named VASER® Lipo to create a smooth, predictable result.

“When I was a medical student I became so fascinated with liposuction that I decided to have the procedure done during my plastic surgery rotation. As I was going under anesthesia I started to get very scared. Next thing I remembered I was waking up in a recovery room sick to my stomach and throwing up. I was in severe pain for one week. Afterward, when I thought that it had all been worth it, I noticed the suctioned area was uneven,” Dr Simoni recalls. “Some of my faith in liposuction was restored when I first learned about wide awake liposuction in my surgical training. But what really amazed me was the VASER Liposelection® procedure.”
Imagine you could lie comfortably on a bed without any anesthesia and lose those fat pockets in just a few hours. Using a new ultrasound technology, called VASER Lipo, the fat can be gently melted away leaving a smooth end result. Amazingly you can walk home right after liposuction and return to work a day or two after.

In the wide awake technique, very small instruments are used. This permits a more delicate and gentle approach to liposuction. Since the patient is awake during the procedure he or she can stand up so the body can be sculpted more accurately. “By mixing wide awake liposuction and the benefits of VASER Lipo technology, we are able to combine safety and better results,” Dr Simoni explains.

VASER LipoSelection uses the gentle power of ultrasound to remove unwanted fat without damaging surrounding tissues—such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue— to promote smooth contours and rapid healing. The trauma that the traditional liposuction inflicts on nerves and blood vessels is the main cause of pain and bruising. The selective action of the VASER Lipo System minimizes pain and bruising, and thus decreases downtime. Since the fat is first softened by gentle ultrasonic waves, the end result is smooth and predictable.

“VASER Lipo is different from previous ultrasonic fat removal technologies in its efficacy and gentleness,” Dr Simoni explains. “I looked into other new techniques such as laser and mesotherapy, but I feel VASER technology is superior in its efficiency and end results. That is why I chose to incorporate VASER Lipo into my practice.”

“There are many occasions that I wished I could go back in time,” said Dr Simoni. “My liposuction experience is definitely one of those times. To do it over again, I would have been treated with VASER Lipo while wide awake.”

Simoni Lift, Looking Younger Has Never Been Easier

WHAT IS THE SIMONI LIFT TM

The SIMONI LIFT TM is a minor, one-hour procedure with long lasting natural results. It was designed by Dr. Simoni to improve the laxity of jowls, cheeks, loose neck (turkey neck) and facial skin without the need for major anesthesia. Recovery is quicker and more comfortable than traditional face lift with more natural results. This procedure is best for people who do not wish to have a traditional pulled and unnatural face lift look.

WHAT DOES IT DO?
Aging alters the body in many ways, but nowhere are these harsh realities as visible as on the face. Coupled with the sun’s damaging rays, the aging process coarsens the texture of the skin, diminishes its youthful layer of fatty tissue, and causes the angularity of the face to be lost. As the skin makes its downward descent off the cheeks, jaw, and neck, it pouches into unsightly bags and overhanging jowls. These outward signs often generate comments of tiredness and questions of sadness that really belie an inner vitality. The great value of SIMONI LIFT TM is that it can help counter this generalized facial sagging and give the face a more rested and youthful appearance. The procedure does not change you; it simply makes you look the way you did years ago.

HOW IS SIMONI LIFT TM DONE?
For SIMONI LIFT TM, You will only need local anesthesia, which is relatively painless local injection of an anesthetic mixed with epinephrine to numb your face. The idea behind avoiding major anesthesia is so you would have a safer procedure. You can carry a normal conservation during the procedure without feeling any major discomfort. You will be able to go home right after. Dr Simoni is experts in keeping even the most anxious patients relaxed and comfortable.
SIMONI LIFT TM removes excess skin and fat from the face and neck area through well planned incisions that start in the hairline, run down in front of the ear, up behind the ear. It repositions and supports the underlying structures and drooping fat, muscles, skin. The preoperative analysis evaluates the quality of the skin, looseness at the jaw line, the angle from the chin to the bottom of the neck, and the amount of fat and excess skin present in the neck area. The results are very dependent on the elasticity of the skin. If the skin has had extensive damage, additional procedures may be required. SIMONI LIFT TM can best correct skin laxity in the face and neck as well as contour problems caused by protruding fat.

HOW LONG DOES IT LASTS?
In every face, regardless of the person’s age, some slack can be found. Following SIMONI LIFT TM, the aging process continues and the skin loses more of its elastic properties. Gravity causes the loose skin to accumulate along the jaws, along the sides of the mouth and in the center of the neck under the chin. It is impossible to predict when – and to what extent – this may happen. Genetics, age differences, ethnic backgrounds, stress, illness, and nutrition all play a role in how soon mini-lift procedures may be considered. However on the average it may take 10-15 years before you might need any additional tuck up.

RECOVERY
By Avoiding anesthesia swelling and bruising is significantly reduced. You should be able to go out in public with the help of make upwithin a few days, but this will vary. It's important to limit your activities for several days. It will probably be 4-7 days before you can return to work.

Risks
As with any procedure, the general risks include bleeding, infection. Though rare, you may develop a pocket of blood and fluid, called a hematoma. This would probably need to be removed by releasing a few sutures and removing the collection. You should expect to have little discomfort, but any that occurs can be controlled with pain medication. Intense pain is a sign that you should call your doctor. There will probably be decreased sensation of the face for a month or so with a gradual return to normal. You can expect to feel, but not usually see, a few little bumps that will even out over time. There will be permanent scars from the procedure that at first will be red, but should fade and be inconspicuous.
